Discover the magic of Portugal’s Alentejo region, covered by rolling hills, vineyards, and charming villages. Here’s a 3-day itinerary to enjoy the region's wines, delicious food, medieval towns, and friendly locals.
Day 1: Arrival in Évora - Dive into History
A quick 1.5-hour drive from Lisbon airport brings you to Évora. With its cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, and medieval walls, Évora’s charm is instant. Explore this UNESCO World Heritage city, a treasure trove of architectural marvels. Visit the grand Cathedral and wander through its labyrinthine alleys to discover the enchanting Giraldo Square, the heart of the town, amidst lively cafes and cultural events.

Day 2: Olive Oil Tasting and Medieval Monsaraz
Start your day with a visit to an olive orchard for a tasting. The vast landscapes are adorned with endless groves of olive trees, predominantly of the Galega variety. The favorable climate of the Alentejo—hot, dry summers and mild winters—provides an ideal environment for olive oil production.

Continue your journey to the medieval town of Monsaraz, a postcard-worthy jewel perched atop a hill. Enclosed by medieval walls, this picturesque village offers panoramic vistas of rolling plains and the sparkling waters of Alqueva Lake. As you wander through the cobblestone streets, the town enchants with well-preserved architecture. The centerpiece is Monsaraz Castle, a historic fortress offering a glimpse into the town's past.

Day 3: Wine Tasting Adventure
Dive into the world of Alentejo wines. Tour vineyards, learn about grape varieties like Aragonez and Antão Vaz, and enjoy tastings led by local winemakers. You might even engage in a pruning lesson or join the harvest. This experience isn’t just about tasting wines; it’s a cultural immersion into the craftsmanship and dedication defining Alentejo's wine production.
